Poetry Unit
Students will be reading selected poetry by some of our greatest poets, such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, and Walt Whitman.

Students will also be writing their own poetry and creating a poetry portfolio. Some of the forms of poetry they will be writing include:

I Am poem
Diamante poem
Thesaurus poem
Haiku and Tanka poems
Alternate Perspective poem

Reading for Pleasure:
Students will be encouraged to read for pleasure. Charts for 8A and 8B are posted in the classroom. Pleasure encourage your child to read.

For your convenience, the words are listed below. Please note that due to some unforseen circumstances spelling tests will now always be given every other week on Tuesdays.
